Landscape Architecture Minor

The Minor in Landscape Architecture introduces foundational aspects of practice and scholarship central to shaping landscapes and the broader built environment. The discipline of landscape architecture thrives in diversity, embracing the nuances and complexities of material, biological, and climatological systems. This minor exposes students to a range of design scales, from the urban environment to the garden scale, with a focus on public space, infrastructure, and new and old media. Courses introduce how the design of landscape affects the social, cultural, and ecological dimensions of the world. History and theory complement science and the arts to equip students with the tools, knowledge, and innovative skills to enrich any major. The Minor in Landscape Architecture is open to all students at Washington University in St. Louis, regardless of major.

At least 12 of the 15 credit units must be applied exclusively to the minor and cannot be counted toward another major or minor. Architecture track courses count toward the minor.

Students interested in the minor should contact the minor advisor.
